My Story

My name is Mary Anne Ogrinz. I am a Colorado native and have taught music lessons in the area for over 10 years. What better place is there to gain inspiration from than The Rocky Mountains, roaring rivers, and soaring eagles of majestic Colorado?
I am a classically trained violinist, but also love to explore other styles of music. I have performed as a soloist, as well as in group settings, such as orchestras, chamber ensembles, and even rock bands. I love to teach classical music, as well as fiddle music.
I graduated from The University of Denver with a bachelor of arts degree and studied and performed in Milan, Italy. Music is a passion in my life and I work to spread that passion through teaching. I am laid-back and friendly in personality, yet serious and passionate when it comes to music.
In lessons, the student will focus on principal and passion. Both are essential for healthy development in music. I am strict on foundations such as good positions, scales, rhythm, and note reading, yet desire to instill inspiration so that the student can play with heart and soul.
I ask that students be patient in their musical development and I will do the same. A beginner student's first few months of lessons will focus on the foundations of solid positions, while learning beginner pieces of music, which slowly develops note reading and rhythm training. Learning to play a musical instrument takes many years of dedication and at times can be daunting, however, the fruits of perseverance makes it all worthwhile.
I am blessed to live in beautiful Castle Rock with my husband, who is also a violinist, and 5 year old son, who naturally is learning to play the violin as well.
